Epidural issues

Hi! With my first baby I got an epidural. The pain of the actual epidural was so bad. I felt a sharp pain straight up my left side. It felt like one specific nerve honestly (also wondering if that pain was normal?) then after I was numb for about an hour. Then my epidural was not working anymore. I asked the nurse and she told me just press the button and it should help. It never did. Lol my labor was not long at all so by the time i told them it wasn’t working at all my baby was already crowning and I just didn’t want to do it again. I was in the zone and ready to push. With this baby, I’m wondering if the epidural will likely not work for me again? Or if maybe my epidural just went in wrong? What was your experience with epidurals each time of you had one?
