Courthouse wedding advice?

I’ve never met anyone who has done one. Do I need a bouquet? Or should I get a photographer? Is it not appropriate to wear a long gown or should I do short? It’s only going to be my daughters and maybe my mom. If anyone has had one What did you guys do afterwards? Should I do cake? Or go out to eat?

You can have flowers and a photographer if you want, but you don't have to. We did a courthouse wedding with just us and our two witnesses who were also close family friends. One of them took photos while the other handed us the rings when it was time. This is what we wore. We also saw a couple right before us that had a couple of guests and were in full wedding attire (long white dress, tux, bouquets, etc.) And a couple after us that were in jeans and nice shirts. So really it's up to what you want. Unfortunately I had to work overnight that night so we didn't get to do anything afterwards, but if we had done something we would have probably just gone out to eat with our kids, family friends, and my mom (who babysat our 6m old and 1 1/2 year old).

You can literally do whatever you want. We did it in 2019. Dressed up. His grandma made me a bouquet. Family took pics for us. We went to his parents house after for a reception. Did our first dance, father daughter dance, drank, ate good food, shoved cake in each other's faces and went to bed lol.

I eloped & had a courthouse wedding. It was only my husband & me. I wore a short white dress. Afterwards, we had a nice dinner & drove home. We told our families the following weekend.

My brother did. It can vary honestly. I went with my brother and now sil ad the witness and he wore a nice v neck t shirt amd dark jeans and she wore a cute sun dress and that was it. No flowers or anything else just them, me and her sister and they just went with super basic legal vows from the justice of the peace. We went for brunch after and he bought he an amazing bouquet of flowers from a florist as a surprise. We did a BBQ at a local park that weekend with close friends and family to celebrate with people.  But I have seen people being a bouquet, wear a wedding dress or wedding dress type dress, have vows written. A few friends from college that did it had small receptions or BBQs after to celebrate or took a weekend trip. There isn't a right or wrong way just do what you both want...and they allow if doing it now as covid has probably altered it some or what is allowed.

I had one… made my own bouquet and had a short dress in ivory .. no photographer just regular friends photos and we met up to eat after… 
Honestly I had a destination ceremony later that week in Jamaica but my courthouse wedding was what he and I count as our actual wedding… it was perfect ..

I agree. I had a courthouse wedding and we saw the full range of things with other couples there - super casual, super dressy, photographers, flowers, etc. I regret not doing a photographer or flowers. You do you! Congrats!
