Using lube during sex?

Soooo When my ex and I had sex, we would always use lube. (With condoms). Like sometimes it was even hard to get it in without lube. 
My current SO and I also use condoms, but we don’t use lube. I don’t feel like we need it at all. I asked him about it one time and he said that if we used lube it would be wayyy too “wet”?
What does this mean??? Sorry if this is a stupid question, It’s the first time I’ve had more than one partner.

I used to use lube but with my boyfriend now I never do. Don’t need it with him. Different partners = different levels of arousal

Too wet that he wouldn’t really feel anything while having intercourse with you, and most likely you would not feel much either if it’s “too wet”. Like someone stated before, you are probably more aroused with your current partner so you don’t need lube, but if you still want to, go for it and tell your partner to just start with a small amount.

I think insertion is easier with lube, that's the part I usually like to have, it may not be necessary, 
But I think it's more necessary with a girthy partner, at least for me at for insertion, not really anything else necessarily.
