Matte nails?

Question

Has anyone ever had their nails done with matte black? Was it dip or shellac? Did they look good? Anything in particular I should ask for/know ahead of time?
I love the look of it but normally get dip and I’m not sure how they would make it look this smooth with the dip powder.

Well the matte is usually just a top coat they put over it in the end so it wouldn’t really matter if it were shellac or dip powder.. in my experience it looks good for a week and then the top coat starts peeling off? Could’ve been the salon I went to but I’ve had a matte color twice & won’t get it again due to the peeling.

I did a matte top coat quite a few times over my shellac.
It’s no different than any other top coat. 
It always looked really great!

I’ve done dip with gel polish that they used a matte top coat for! I get matte nails often! Love it!

I loveee matte nails, but if you scratch them it shows.. that’s the only down side😔
