I get to be annoyed, right?!
My husband makes good money, but we also aren't used to budgeting. He recently left the military, so we knew we would have to watch spending a bit more. He told me after household bills, we would have $2000 to operate off of monthly.
This morning he texts me saying we actually only have $760 to spend after household bills each month.
My mind is blown. Then he says to "think about it" and "we can discuss it tonight" and tells me not to text him about it. Like wtf. $700 is groceries and gas for the month.
I stay home, so I'm grateful for all he does and he works so hard to support us. So I'm not trying to be a brat. I'm fine with not having much to spend if it means I stay home with the kids, because that's important to us. But, like, $760 is a far cry from $2000, and you drop a bomb and then just walk away and tell me not to talk about it?
It's only 8:30AM for the love of god.
Edit: I mean, he sent me a very organized spreadsheet. I'm not sure where his first number came from. Like what the heck? He's considering our contributions to the kids' colleges funds, household bills, and any credit card debt. The killer is his side hustle. It's $600 of debt every month. It used to pay for itself, but has hit a lull. Some months it might pay for itself, but we can't count on it.
The only thing I can think to cut is the amount he contributes to retirement, so he has more take home. I don't overspend on groceries or anything.
