Do young kids act out when moving to a new home?

Question

4 year old has generally been fairly mellow all his life, tantrums did happen of course, but were generally short lived…. Ever since moving to our new place though, he’s been nothing short of a little terror. 
The house is much bigger and nicer and he seemed to happy & excited initially, but after the first few days, things just took a nosedive. 
This is their first move, so I don’t know if it’s some sort of adjustment phase, or if it’s because he’s just getting bigger & wants more independence & control? Idk. 
Pls help.

My son (3.5) was the exact same. While we were packing for the move he was excited and even helped pack up. And the first couple of nights in the new house he started acting out a lot. 
Something that kind of helped him was I’d give him a box to help me unpack and choose where things should live (mainly with his things) and after about a week he mellowed out and stopped asking to go back to the old house

Change is hard for anyone, but especially children who do not yet have the tools to cope with change. A change in environment is a massive world shaking change for a child.

Any big change can affect behavior for a little while. He should adjust and return to the more mild-tempered kid you know.
