Upset! Might be taking it too far.

So I may be tripping then again maybe not. Last year I moved in with my boyfriend. Christmas came and I wanted a tree to decorate really bad. He told me no because he doesn't think the house is in appropriate conditions for decoration. (Its an old house which hasnt been remodeled). He wanted to wait until we move. I dealt with it. Im used to decoration and making things pretty so it threw me off a bit. I though I could make the house look nice. I begged and pleaded and still got NO for an answer. This year his mother blessed us with a Christmas tree and she was willing to help me decorate it. I told her I dont think it'll be a good idea but she insisted. I told her that I will try to get him to her and they can talk about it. Inside im excited because I was thinking she could convince him this year. We went to see her today. She talked about getting the tree and helping me decorate it. Out of RUDENESS he speaks and says "I dont know why yall talking about that tree when you know it aint going up, quit wasting your time!" I was like, wow I live there too. I felt like I had no say so. His mother thought he was playing. But he nicely said it again and told us that if we keep talking bout it he's going to get mad. I come from a family where even if we had nothing decorating the tree and looking at it made us happy. For him to be such a scrooge hurt my feelings. We must appreciate what we have before we can appreciate the next so why not start now? What if we never move? What should I do?
