Is this rough patch fixable?

My husband and I have been together 10 years, since I was 16. We have 2 children together, pets, a home. I'm a stay at home mother while he works 60-70 hours a week as a 911 call taker. They are short staffed and he has to work all the time because of it. Has about one day off a week. He was sexually assaulted when he was younger, which has caused some issues with his mental health, as well as the trauma from his job.

In our teenage years, we had a rough patch of toxic arguments where we'd both yell and storm out on each other. Then make up.

Once we became parents and got older, we realized how cringe and horrible behavior this was. We had a rough patch 5 years ago where we felt ourselves going back to that pattern. We did couples communication program for about a year and have had barely any issues since then, that was 4 years ago. However, since his job has been more stressful and more hours and I am dealing with possibly PPD, we have been resorting to old habits and lashing out at each other instead of working together. I'd say about 5-8 times the past year we've gotten in a very bad argument where I say something snippy, he tries to remove himself, I push him to talk right then, and he lashes out and says something crazy out of line for his character. He called me an idiot, I at some point called him an a*shole. He said horrible things, I worry I pushed him there as the past 8 months I have been almost miserable to be around - constantly nagging him, getting angry at him for no reason, etc. This is not our typical behavior - usually we talk things out with proper communication like adults and it doesn't get like this.

Is this a rough patch? Have you been through one? How did you fix it? I feel we are forgetting we are on the same team and going back to teenage habits during arguments.
