Cloth diaper inserts

Tasha

Hi everyone wondering if anyone could give me insight on how long their cloth diaper inserts lasted before they replaced them and got new ones?? My daughter is now 18 months we have been cloth diapering since she was a baby but I’ve noticed that her microfiber Alva Baby inserts are just not as fresh as they used to be and I’m wondering is it just time for new?? Or do I need to come up with a better wash routine? I got cloth diapers in order to cut back on cost and know they are great for the environment in comparison to disposables. So I just wanted to make sure I got the full use out of them before I went out to buy more inserts.

20m and only cloth here and my cotton/bamboo still going strong. Maybe microfibre is different? Also when you say not as fresh, could wash routine checking help?

You’re welcome! It can be hard to find a good wash routine that cleans them without leaving build up 😫

I’m not actually sure how long they wash for but I’m going to change detergents and see how that goes. My washer is new but it does not have a timer on it 🤷🏽‍♀️

I can’t believe you used them this long! I love osocozy infant prefolds as inserts. They’re cheap on amazon and work great!

Just keep in mind that they need about 8-10 washes to reach full absorbency, I wash them 4 times before I use them the first time so the natural oils wear off. For overnights, I’ll use an Alva microfiber AND a prefold but my son is also 2. My newborn, I use a preemie prefold with one microfiber insert.

Agreed! I got so many leaks from microfiber and I switched to OsoCozy prefolds to stuff my pockets with and they were great!
