Parents: blame the dog owner or the dog? It’s DEFINITELY NEVER THE DOGS FAULT

What is wrong with some people? Okay, so I didn’t want to say anything at first but I couldn’t help myself. I am so sick and tired of people spreading these lies and misinformation not only about dogs, but pit bulls in particular. IT’S NOT THE DOGS FAULT, blame the owners especially irresponsible parents! Every time I see these articles about pit bulls “attacking” kids the worthless parents OBVIOUSLY weren’t around to supervise them! And the children aren’t innocent either, they deserve anything that comes to them if they can’t respect a dog’s space.
My husband and I have implemented a strict method in our household to keep our young kids from disturbing our 7 rescue pittie babies. Any bodily functions associated with loud noise (sneezes, etc) are to be done quietly into a designated pillow in the front yard at least 25 feet from the house. We’ve also rigged up some specialized padded shoes that minimize the decibel level of footfalls inside where hardwood floors are. Additionally, sunglasses MUST be worn when in the presence of the dogs, as any inadvertent eye contact can be perceived as a threat. My husband and I removed the bay door from our garage to cut down on noise, too. This system really works!
We did have one tiny, insignificant hiccup however. My son and his friends were unfortunately mauled due to the commotion from a game of Horse during his 4th birthday party. He lost his left hand, but he’s right-handed so no problem. Luckily, we were able to stop the bleeding and then promptly get one of the dogs to the emergency vet in case the bones scraped his esophagus on the way down. The doggos must’ve thought my son and his friends were being attacked by the basketball so they tried to protect him the only way they knew how. We immediately got rid of the basketball goal and all sports-related items in our household to keep this from happening again in the future.
See, anyone talking down about this breed are simply uninformed and frankly, ignorant. If you take the right precautions, dogs - ESPECIALLY pitties - are the sweetest, most loving and harmless companions you could ask for. 🙄
BTW BECAUSE THOSE COMMENTING THINK I AM SERIOUS THIS IS ALL MEANT AS A JOKE. I’m basically making fun of those who only think it’s the owners fault and it’s never the precious dogs who would be at fault for mauling someone. There was an incident that happened today at a local park and I was astonished at the number of people who blamed the owner on their out of control dog when I know them and they treat their dog great.

Um… the fact that you take it to the extreme of sneezing into the pillow and excuse your dogs behavior of taking off part of a child’s hand saying “he’s right handed so no big deal.”
Like girl, I have two pits at home, we teach our children to not sit on them, pull tails or ears, basically not harass them at all. And yes it’s not always the dogs fault, but you sound like your dogs are absolutely not safe and you’re excusing behavior that is absolutely unacceptable and dangerous for your children and the people around you.

😂😂😂😂 I read thia out loud to my pitt bull and he literally looked so like "🙄🙄" but he has a 3 year old girl and 2 year old boy and he is 7 as of the 18th of this month. That said his days consist of being dressed up by his girl and his boy driving trucks on him. He plays dinosaurs and he is a baby doll pony ride. He give 0 fucks about the perception of society on how he needs to be a vicious beast. He is allowed to be alone with my kids also. Why? Because he saved my daughter from her abusive sperm donor and we had to fight tooth and nail for his life because of him putting her first. He alerted me when my son was struggling to breath in the.middle of the night at 4 months old (he had developed rsv and ended up hospitalized for 2 weeks). He has been training my younger dog to handle the children and they do amazing. I have never felt unsafe with them even a bit. My pittie was always nearby watching the kids when they were brand new too. 🤷 He knows what to do to be gentle even at 75lbs of rock hard lard he has the biggest heart and he will literally put himself in harms way to save those kids.

I think dog owners are responsible period.     Dogs are DOGS not intelligent beings.   They are wonderful and helpful is so many applications but when it all boils down its a dog not a person.   It is the owners job to look after the dog and protect it and others from the dog if the dog has aggressive or protective tendencies.     
I will not allow my children to mistreat any animal of my own or anyones elses.  They are and will be taught proper ways to approach animals who they dont know and to never touch without permission or really its best to not touch at all if it isnt your pet.

Its the owners fault. As a pet owner and a parent it’s your job to keep your kid and dog safe. 
There’s plenty of pit bulls that are big sweet hearts and amazing with kids. And there’s plenty of golden retrievers and labs and breeds considered “gentle” that have harmed kids. Regardless of the breed it’s your responsibility to insure that they are not an aggressive dog, to teach your children boundaries with the dog to help prevent an altercation, and to supervise a small child with your dog. I think it’s ridiculous to say “it’s the dogs fault” when it’s literally a dog? 
Also a reactive dog is not an aggressive dog. And the problem most people have is putting a dog down for reacting (biting; when kids physically harm the dog, grab things out of their mouth, ext. When the child was not seriously injured. It’s the parents fault for not teaching the child to respect animals.

Um I still think the owner has responsibility. Dogs are dogs, they are still animals. Even when they are strictly trained, they can be unpredictable, especially when they believe they themselves or their owners are in danger. It is the owner’s job to make sure their dogs are not in a situation where they could hurt people. This means keeping them leashed and never leaving them unsupervised with children. The owner is human after all, they need to keep their dog in check.
