Hair stylist opinions or at least someone with hair knowledge

I’ve been getting blonde highlights for several years. The stylist I’ve been going to for about 2 years just moved and I was so bummed. But the owner of the salon she used to be at offered to do my hair as she is a “blonde specialist”

First thing that was different than my usual is that she used a board to paint my foils with. She kept saying it was an old school way. Then I said I like a nice natural blended look with a smudged root so it grows out well. She insisted that she knew what would look great while it grew out. I don’t know anything about hair, I just told her my preferences.

Then, she told me she doesn’t use toner. I’ve been to several stylists and I’ve never NOT received a toner. She insisted if you do it right, you don’t need toner. Again not a hair stylist but that seems like odd logic considering every other stylist does it?

While I will say the actual color of the highlights look good, it is sooo stripey. I don’t know what part of we’ll blended or smudged roots didn’t get through but idk if there is every a good way to fix it at this point?

Like I said, I’ve had my hair highlighted on numerous occasions and it has never looked like this.

Any hair gurus have any suggestions ?
