Finally had my baby! Over a week late. She was 11 pounds! They estimated she would be around 7, we were shocked. The staff was astounded. Especially because I wasn’t very big during this pregnancy. Unfortunately, they have reason to believe she is prone to seizures or has blood in her brain, which is really scary and means I can’t see her. They took her to the city and I’m waiting until they have a bed for me there.

Alsooo I ended up having that csection anyway. I tried for a vbac, labored for about 12 hours and got to 8cm without any assistance. BUT at that point the epidural wasn’t working on my left side and I was screaming in pain. My uterus just narrowly avoided being ruptured 😯.

They took me in for the csection and only had to cut through one thin layer of my uterus on the side I was having all that pain. The surgery went way smoother the second time around, my husband actually did amazing supporting me (the doctors/nurses said he should be a doula even). They had to give me a ridiculous amount of drugs because of my uterus pain. And then it was all over. They stitched me up, it’s a few hours later and I actually feel not terrible. Mostly because I’m worried about baby but hey, we made it—I didn’t die, baby is with dad getting the best possible medical care in the USA, and we’ll all be reunited soon (I hope). It sucks not bonding with baby right away, I only got to see her for a few moments 😞. Just waiting on that bed... fingers crossed it’ll be tonight and not tomorrow.

UPDATE: They have a bed for me in the city and I’m headed there by ambulance any minute. Also, baby is doing well and they have yet to see any cause for concern at the city hospital. They want to run some tests to be sure and keep her in the NICU for 24 hours, then she should be good to come back. I’ve also been able to hand express and pump a good amount of colostrum that she’s had no trouble drinking. We are so lucky both of us are doing this well.
