Question for Mixed Race Babies

:)

Okay I need advice....🤔

So I am mixed race —half white, half Indian. Not Indigenous or American Indian, my mom was born and raised in India. Though she is pretty light skinned compared to what most ppl expect a indian person to look like.

Every time someone asks my ethnicity and I tell them White and Indian many ask "oh, what tribe?" 😑😑😑

I say no, I mean like from India and they look at me so wild! Then they ask if my mom's parents were Indian, I'm like yep. What about my grandparents? Also yep. What about their parents? Yep. It kind of sucks they are trying so hard to find a reason I look the way I do.

________

On top of that—my mom had some mental health issues and I never got to learn her culture. And I do not have an Indian family members I can talk to. My dad is kinda racist which is why I don't talk to him about it.

I do not feel like I know anything about this side of me (other than maybe some Indian foods I like and a couple of terms here and there), but I don't feel like I fully connect with 100% white people either.

I am also engaged and I thought it would be nice to have some henna done or something foe my wedding, but I feel almost as if I am not Indian enough for it😔

***Do any other mixed babies have advice on what to do to help me connect with my other side or anything? Any advice in general would be appreciated.
