Should i take paci away from older sibling before baby comes?

Sofie

My son will be 2 in January and we are expecting his baby brother for early March. He is very dependent on the pacifier, it’s a huge source of comfort for him. We were using the paci strictly for sleep time only. But then he got very sick with pneumonia and relied heavily on the pacifier. I’m back to taking it away during the day and there has been lots of tears. Should I just take it away completely knowing it will impact quality of sleep or let him have it for just sleep until he gets used to baby brother?

Any tips would be very helpful. My son is in speech therapy and his therapist said to wait but my family is pushing us to take it away now. I just worry because it’s a bit hard to compromise with a toddler that doesn’t fully understand and is unable to verbally tell me much.
