How do you feel about a chilis baby shower ?
I think it’s tacky but my mom and sister n law think it’s okay 
I just don’t think nobody should be invited to a baby shower and pay for there own food and bring a gift for the baby I just don’t know about that idea

Having a shower at a restaurant is not tacky. Making guests pay for their own food and drink is tacky.

I would be happy to attend a shower at a restaurant and would not think it was tacky on its own, but I would expect my meal/food/refreshments to be paid for. If they don't want to serve a meal, just don't have food. I would much rather attend a shower at a house or church or venue without food than have a meal cost sprung on me.

You are correct on this one. When you throw a shower, the guests customarily don’t pay for their own food.

I'm not sure about chili's but I know some places offer a catering menu. So you could have  private seating and have some appetizers and  entrees "catered" in the restaurant in larger sizes to do buffet style. Covid may have killed that though

I have never attended a baby shower but a Chili’s baby shower might make me change that. I am all for any excuse to eat their salsa burger and skillet cookie lol

My coworkers gave me one at Chuy's. We had a blast. We just told people they could donate to a pregnancy clinic if they felt the need to do a gift. A few people brought me diapers and wipes etc.

I co-hosted a baby shower at Old Chicago. We were able to bring in our own cake and then ordered appetizers, pizza and drinks for the group. Was a great time. Pizza is easily shareable so maybe at Chili's it be a little harder or else just a ton of appetizers.

The location isnt a big deal, but you are right, it is definitely tacky to expect your guests to pay for their own food...and bring a gift. Dont do it girl, people will be complaining behind your back. 😬

Whatever the plan ends up being I would just make sure it says on the invite what the plan is, I am a super bad judge of anything not spelled out, so I often end up having to leave early because I’m hungry or being full since I ate ahead of time and don’t get to enjoy the good food that is there. I’m way too anxious to ask! 
Also just keep in mind that a Chili’s may be harder for people to drop in with their gift without staying for a meal.
