Does my ex-supervisor like me??

So I’ve been working at this job for a couple months now and he’s been there 6 years. He recently just quit (3 days ago) and didn’t tell anyone but me and the managers. Last night he called me at 10PM last night to tell me he wants to apologize for leaving knowing it disappointed us, how in all 6 years- we were his favorite employees and basically his next steps for about 10 minutes. An hour after the phone call, he texts me “don’t hate men” because at work, I jokingly say it all the time. We were up until 4 in the morning texting about all types of stuff. We never texted before and only talked at work so it was weird. It just had me thinking maybe he waited until he wasn’t my boss anymore to try to talk to me?
