Retained placenta ? **TMI Pictures**

Does this seem normal to anyone?  I gave birth to my second daughter November 4th, so last Thursday. It was my second normal vaginal birth minus 2nd degree tearing. I took a shower last night and as I was getting out felt something starting to come out of me. I looked down and thought it was just gonna be some air or something. I ended up having to pull it the rest of the way out. It doesn’t break apart when squished and is decent sized. I haven’t called my doctor yet because it’s only that, no other symptoms except for some normal postpartum bleeding and cramping and I honestly just don’t want to bother them if it’s nothing.

This looks like a blood clot. I had some of those! I had a retained placenta and I was literally contracting and then gave birth to it about 5 days PP at my own house.. my birth story was the worst. I have a post about it. It was literally the size of my baby.

Could be . I would call the doctor though this looks like a clot and this could lead to something dangerous especially if you have more left in there .

I’m not sure what it is it could be a clot or a piece of placenta. As long as you don’t have any other symptoms I’d say you’re fine. Something similar happened to me 3 days pp I noticed something like a long clot hanging out of my vagina it looked like a membrane. I didn’t want to pull it out at home  because I was scared and I thought it would just come out on its own and I didn’t want to make myself hemorrhage at home if it was attached to anything still. So I gave it about a day and it never passed so I went to the ER and the ER nurse had to pull it out for me which was so embarrassing and disgusting. Overall horrible experience. I got an infection probably from giving it a chance to come out on its own. And I probably could’ve just pulled it out on my own since that’s what the ER nurse did anyways. I never found out what it was for sure but they said it could’ve been a “product of conception” or a piece of my amniotic sac.

I’ve had retained placenta twice, and this definitely looks like that. The first time I was passing chunks of it for 2 days in the hospital and they still discharged me without clearing me out or checking that it was all gone 🤦‍♀️ I had all sorts of problems for the next 2 months, it blocked my cervix so my period couldn’t come out, it just built up behind it causing extreme pain. I didn’t have the typical symptoms (heavy bleeding, fever, infection etc) which is why it took so long for them to figure out what was happening- Didn’t get a D&C to remove it until 10 weeks after the birth, which left scar tissue throughout my uterus and meant the next pregnancy that the placenta embedded too deeply and I needed emergency theatre to remove it. Complete shit show. So please get it seen to ASAP, even just a quick scan to make sure this was the last piece
