Pack N Play, Crib, Mini Crib?!?!

Hey mamas,
FTM here... I have a 2 bedroom apartment and my husband and I are planning for now to keep baby with us and in our room. What is the best in your opinion as far as a sleeping arrangement? My mother in law is suggesting the pack n play because it is so versatile. But they’re not as cute  I like the clean look of some cribs LOL. And I’m also considering if it’s worth getting a mini-crib since baby will be in our room and it’s not going to take up as much space as a large crib... but then again if it’s worth it I’d rather just spend the money on a regular crib. Or should I start with a pack n play for now, and get a crib later? Please let me know what you guys did and how it worked out for you, and all your suggestions!

I have all three. I definitely prefer a full size crib. The mini crib is okay for the first 6 months or so and then it gets pretty small for baby. The pack n play to me just seems way to hard and not comfortable for baby. Plus I find the full size pack n plays to be pretty bulky too. I hardly ever used my pack n play unless we were traveling.

It comes with a bassinet on a stand so you don't need the whole thing out. We have the bassinet set up in our room and the rest of the pack n play in storage.

Bassinet until he was ready to sleep through the night (with a dream feed) at almost 4 months then his own crib.  I think he could have actually gone to his own crib and slept better if we had started dream feeding earlier, once he was down to one wake up a night for a feed.

We put a crib in our 2nd bedroom but didn’t use it for the first 5 months. Prior to that we had a rocking bassinet in our room the first 3 months and a pack n play when he outgrew the bassinet. We moved him
Into his own room at 5 months because he was a very noisy sleeper and I got no slee whatsoever.

We used a pack n play until our son moved to his room at 4 months old and now he is in his crib. We do use the pack n play at my moms house for nap time.

I liked the pack n play for the upper bassinet attachment. It was much easier to get him in and out of for feedings after my c section and recovery. Then, at 6 months, we moved to the crib. We still have the pack n play for road trips and stuff.

Knowing what I know now, when I had my first I would’ve skipped the bassinet and just used the pack n play in our room and then transfer to the crib. My daughter hated the bassinet and slept better in the crib. She is also in the 99% percentile, so I would’ve gotten a different pack n play than I did because she had outgrown it by like 18 months and it was a struggle on vacation this year. I would definitely not base this decision on how cute a baby’s sleep surface is.

We did a bassinet in our room until our baby moved to her own room into a normal size crib. The mini cribs aren’t very big although they are cute but I definitely wouldn’t have a mini crib and a regular size crib. We do have a mini crib at our cottage but that’s separate. We also have a pack and play that we kept on the main floor.
