Reaction to epidural

Ashley

So let me start at the beginning I had my first child at 20 I went into the doctor at 38 weeks cuz I felt like I was In labor well I was they checked me and I was 4cm dilated they asked if I wanted an epidural I said I was OK for now I didn't really hurt at all just felt some pressure on my lower back so fast forward a couple hours I'm now 7cm and in alot of pain throwing up and just plain can't stand it the only anesthesiologist is busy in a surgery and can't come do the epidural so I have to wait fast forward again finally he comes in I get my epidural he ask how much I weigh and how tall I am I say I'm 5'6" and I'm 135lbs the medicine kicks in and I finally feel better I'm talking to my husband and now we are happy and I feel good well the nuse checks my monitors babies heart rate is dropping fast and so is my oxygen so they put me on oxygen the Dr. rushes in and says baby has to come out now he tells a nurse to get on OR ready for a c-section then says nevermind no time takes sisors to me down there gets the vacuum and sucks my son out and he was limp and not making any noise it took the 10 mins before he made any noise he's now 5 and fine Dr. Never figured out why that happened? OK so 5 years later I get induced with my daughter I decide to get the epidural at 4cm this time i tell the Dr. I think i only want a half of a dose last time I had it I was numb from my chest down and couldn't move my legs so he says OK gives me half a dose and leaves 15 mins later I has sweating from everywhere and starting to feel like I'm going to pass out nurse checks my heart it's racing she check my blood pressure it's 60 over 40 and dropping she reaches back and calls a code blue on me by the time the the my OB and the anesthesiologist got in there my blood pressure was at 40 over 20 they shut the epidural off and gave me oxygen finally they got my vitals up and my babies back up and the rest of my labor went fine I did not use the epidural after that so anyone else ever have an epidural do that to them? My doctor decided I have a low tolerance for medication and a thin spinal column so the epidural medicine affected my heart and lungs and basically made them sleepy and sluggish
