Do you enjoy attending weddings?

Question

So to start off, my distaste for weddings is definitely influenced by my being on the autism spectrum (sensory issues/social anxiety etc all a bad combo for weddings). I am just curious if other people genuinely enjoy having to go to them. I have been to 7 or so weddings and all of them have been painfully long and uncomfortable in my opinion. I have a hard time understanding why you need to have a big elaborate party to commit yourself to someone legally, but I do understand most people don’t feel that way and enjoy the attention. My wedding was in front of 5 people and lasted 30 minutes and for me that was perfect and 0 stress. Let me know your opinion/why you enjoyed your smaller or larger wedding for yourself!

I don’t enjoy weddings, but I’m also not a fan big crowds. I actually have a wedding I’m attending today 😆😭, which don’t get me wrong I’m happy for them and I’m sure it will be beautiful I’m just more of a homebody.

So the few weddings I've been to, I enjoyed so much. That being said, they were small, 45 or less people and in general, pretty non traditional. And that's exactly how my wedding was as well and I loved it. We had a small, meaningful ceremony in our backyard and my best friend officiated for us. We had our reception in another area of our property but it really was just a party. We did some toasts but we hired someone to do taquizas and a bartender so everyone just ate soo many tacos and drank. We all chatted around the fire, just in general it was such a good time and most of our guests told us it was the best wedding they've been to. I just think that wedding traditions should be thrown out of the window and people will generally have a much better time.

Depends on the wedding. Im not religious and i feel uncomfortable in churches. The last wedding i attended was in a small hotel room. It was lovely, short and sweet.

My wedding had about 100 guests. Honestly, if I could do it over- it would be smaller and family only. My dad invited all his work people and since I was joining his company a month later it felt like a networking opportunity rather than the intimate wedding I dreamed of. But he paid for majority of the wedding and that came with strings attached. At 22 I was too young and want the strong independent woman I am today. I would have just paid for it ourselves and done exactly what we wanted. 
It was still a beautiful day. We wanted a short ceremony, it was literally 15 minutes. Then an hour for cocktails before the reception. 
I don’t go to people’s weddings unless they are family. I just sent a gift to anyone that invites us. Due to Covid now but before it was due to our hatred of traveling.

I loved them until I got married young and divorced my highschool sweetheart, then I hated and avoided them. I got remarried and love them again but can’t wrap my head around the giant $40k+ weddings people plan. They’re beautiful, but that is a lot of money to spend. Ours was small and just perfect, we spent maybe $3k total.

Weddings are really long and some are really dragged out. I'm not a big fan of being around a ton of people either. But I also haven't had the chance to watch someone I really care about get married yet. My brothers will never be married and my best friends are engaged but never plan to actually marry. If it was my best friends wedding I'm sure I would really enjoy that.

I don't like gatherings in general

I did a handfasting ceremony and all of our guests were involved with the ribbon tying. Everyone was assigned a certain color that represents something they provide for me or my husband like support, love, guidance, etc. They all gathered around our commitment circle and brought up their ribbon when they were called upon by my best friend officiating the ceremony. They placed the ribbons around our joined hands and at the end my friend tied a soft knot while saying an old blessing and we slipped our hands out and pulled on our ends of the ribbons to tie the knot. Then we had a super informal dinner of tacos with sides and a dessert table. We had a toast and everyone came over to say some words of wisdom or encouragement. We had music outside where people could dance, a living room for people to sit and chill and the kids room set up with our 2 XBoxs and 2 PCs so they could do whatever they wanted. Everyone was so happy and had such a great time, it's been 2 years already and we still get compliments on the ceremony and how it was the best wedding they've attended. Most people comment on how they loved being so deeply involved with our union, they weren't just spectators and felt like it had more meaning than the typical weddings they attend. I'm totally biased but I agree 😂 I'm not a fan of the generic big weddings. They're all too similar and way too over the top. The bride and groom look more like performers than two people celebrating their new lives together and it's sad to me. I also don't like too much noise or too many people so I guess I see things differently than others but yeah, weddings overall are more a chore than an enjoyable experience for me
