Infantile spasms???

Question

How do I know the difference between infantile spasms or just baby development?? I feel so stupid. I took my 3 month old to the doc yesterday bc she has a cold. But somehow forgot to mention these little spasms that she keeps having. It’s her arms and hands they wave, like shake in the air. A lot. I have no idea if it’s normal development or not. And I feel really dumb I didn’t ask at the doctor yesterday.

Look up Moro refluxes! 
Totally and completely normal. This why swaddling a baby is so important! Their Moro refluxes wake them up! 
It slows down and eventually goes away by around 6 months!

I freaked out about this too when my LO was smaller and I read a ridiculous amount about how to differentiate moro reflex from seizures. Apparently it’s not obvious, but seizures usually come in clusters; also, babies’ eyes will often roll back momentarily if they’re having a seizure but not if it’s just startle reflex. 
I’m sure your little one is perfectly fine, but always better safe than sorry. Get it on video and share it with the pediatrician on call for peace of mind. 💕

I told about 3 months babies have very little control over their moments. You should see a decrease in those spasms going forwards. Some babies take a little longer than others but the important things is that you should be seeing less and not more.

They should decrease with age.  It’s usually just the muscles learning still ☺️ My youngest used to actually wake himself up with them he’d get them in his legs so bad while sleeping.  I’d have to roll up a blanket and prop his feet so he wouldn’t wake himself up with that falling sensation until he grew out of it.
