12 year old still wets the bed

My son is 12 and I've tried absolutely everything except diapers to get him to stop wetting the bed. He's been to the doctor and s therapist and at this point I'm being told he will stop when he stops. They think it may be genetics because my husband wet the bed until he was 20. I'm trying to hide my frustration because it's embarrassing for him. He's a preteen. He doesn't go to sleepovers even though he's been invited to plenty and doesn't have a whole lot of friends. One friend he's had since he was 7 has been trying to have a sleepover for years and he's so embarrassed about it that he won't go. And the laundry is ridiculous. I asked what worked for my husband and he said "Honestly. My mom made me start wearing diapers at 14". I don't want to do that to him. I'm just at a loss. I'm trying to be sympathetic but I also have a baby on the way....
