When did you stop wiping your kids?

So I have no idea what the age is that you stop wiping your kids after they go to the bathroom.  My son is 3 so I know I had a few years left, but I figured maybe by like 5, 6? I have no clue honestly, I’m just throwing ages out there.  I just found out my sil still wipes their kids and they are 11 yr old twins.  I had no idea you had to wipe them that long.  When do you stop? 12? 13? I know obviously however long they need help, you help them, but wondering at what age did your kids no longer need help?

11 is outrageous if her kids are typically developing. How embarrassing for them.
I stopped before my kids got to kindergarten, so around 4 I guess? Maybe earlier? 
Kindergarten teachers will not wipe your child, so they need to have that skill mastered before then.

My daughter is 4 and she wipes herself when she pees and poops but I tell her I need to double check when she poops as she doesn’t do a great job 😂

My almost 3 year old wipes his own butt. I go behind him to make sure it’s really clean, but he does a surprisingly good job. Kids need to be wiping their own butt by kindergarten. Teachers do not wipe your kids.

My four year old knows how to do it, but still asks me to help which I’m trying to get him to be more self reliant. I feel kids should be 100% potty trained before they go to kindergarten. What does these 11 year olds do when they’re at school?!

You absolutely don't have to keep wiping then for that long, unless they have a developmental delay or other disability preventing them from doing so themselves. My newly turned 3yo can wipe himself with about 90% accuracy. We always do 1 last wipe for him just to be sure, but I assume that within the next year or so we'll drop it. My friend's mom is a kinder teacher and she said "his teachers will thank you."
It's a skill that needs to be taught, so it's possible that your SIL didn't teach her kids how to properly wipe but now they're at a severe disadvantage. It doesn't matter if it's easier for you to do it, start teaching it now(not saying you aren't, just in general) and it will pay off in the long run.

I’m a preschool teacher. I have 14 three year olds. I would say all but a handful can wipe themselves. If it’s a lot they know to ask for help. We try to let them be as independent as possible. We show them to wrap toilet paper around they whole little hand and reach back while still on the toilet to wipe. Then if they need help to ask and we will check after them.

Ugghh before they go to school they should be taught to wipe themselves. No teacher will do it for them.
