Is 2nd trimester 13 or 14 weeks?

I'm 13 weeks today and I have a few pregnancy apps. But some say 13 weeks is the start of the 1st trimester and others say it's 14 weeks im so confused. 😳

I use to think 2nd trimester started at week 13 but then my app said it starts at week 14 so 🤷🏻‍♀️ it doesn’t really matter tho there’s no right or wrong just different sources.

Honestly I think either is fine to consider the start of second trimester. My OBGYN considered 14 weeks to be the start of the second trimester, but I’ve heard it’s technically 13 weeks and 3 days, so some people just say 13 and some 14.... either works 🤷‍♀️

Pregnancy is 40 weeks. Divide 40 by 3 and you get 13.333333 weeks. So 2nd trimester starts basically 1/3 of the way through your 13th week

1 trimester is 3 months which is 12 weeks which would mean 13 weeks would make it the 2nd
