I was hesitant to use pacifier at first but once baby doesn’t stop crying you will do everything to comfort her and if the pacifier helps her why not and it avoids sid.

We used the wubbanubs and I’ll say pacifiers are a double edged sword. I think they’re a big reason he was able to start falling back asleep by himself and self soothing which we 100% needed at that time but now that he’s 2 I’m dreading taking them away. He only uses them for sleep or the car since about age one but even that gets a little tricky sometimes, especially lately. I’d say overall though I’m glad I used them, we’ll get through transitioning him off, I don’t know how I would have gotten through getting him to sleep on his own without them.

If it’s pacifier or fingers, I’d choose pacifier. You can a pacifier away (gradually). You cannot disconnect their fingers from their body 😅😂 It doesn’t matter if the pacifier is the “ortho” ones or not. Research shows no difference in the malocclusion caused by either. It’s just a marketing scheme.

We used the Nuk Orthodontic ones. At around 9mo we stop letting them have them while playing and keep them to sleeping, cars, or especially fussy times when we just need them to not have a meltdown. We gradually use them less and less (take out of the car, take from naps, then take from overnight sleep). By about 2.5yrs, our son was off them entirely. Dentist said to have him done by age 3. We would have done a little earlier, but our second was born and we didn’t want two big transitions.

Depending on the age of your baby if you haven’t needed it until now don’t start. I used a pacifier from birth. My baby would never take a bottle though so I figured I only had one habit to break and that was okay. He’s now 2 and I wish I’d cut the binkie ages ago. I’m waiting a few more months until he understands that we’re taking it away and it’s not coming back before we bite the bullet but I’m not looking forward to that.
