HELP!! Nipple guard weaning???

I’m looking for any tips and help with weaning my 11 week old baby boy off a nipple guard. I was given a nipple guard in the hospital because my son was not latching correctly and turned my nipple completely black and blue. Since they healed, I can not get him to latch without one. He gets extremely worked up and I end up giving up and putting one on because I feel so bad seeing him so upset! I know I’m hurting my supply using them though, so any help would be much appreciated 🤞🏻🤞🏻♥️

I don’t personally have experience with this, but a friend did. One piece of advice told to her was to try and nurse baby before they got hungry. If you wait until they’re hungry, it’s really tough. I know that don’t actually help with the latching on, but if baby is curious and not impatient, it could help.

Hey so I also used the nipple shield my dr suggested putting it on and then mid feed when breast is all engorged and nipple is out form feeding quickly hamburger pinch boob and stick right back in babies mouth eventually baby will get the hang of it I went through this with both my kids and it with daughter nursed her till just about 2 years old with zero problems once they get the hang of it!

I would try to see a LC. Usually with nipple shield use there should be close follow up. 
Try feeding him on the first breast with the nipple shield on then offer the other breast without it on. The idea is he would be more calm from feeding on one breast already.
