When to share pregnancy news with family?

Hi all! My husband and I are torn on when to share the news with our parents. My first appointment is right after Christmas around the 9 week mark. We’d like to tell them a few days later on NYE, but (provided everything is okay based on that appointment), should we just wait until after the 12 week mark? I know realistically there is no right or wrong answer, but I’d still like some opinions or guidance. Thank you 😊

We are very close with my parents and my in-laws.. so we shared the news at thanksgiving dinner last night. But we aren’t making it public until at least Christmas or new year’s.

I would share it on Christmas day or eve. Whichever you feel more comfortable with. These moments are precious and make the best memories in life! Which is all we really have that's solid on earth! Everything else is material and just passing us by. 
Prolonging living them can be a mistake especially when we never know if and when unexpected bad news can shatter the anticipation built around the wait of the announcement. I would say go for it! 9 weeks or 12 weeks! Yes, technically the 3month mark is always preferred but given it would be messing up the timing of all being gathered for the holidays... 
I would announce it! 
Also, I'm pretty sure you not drinking would probably be noticeable that day and you'll most likely be grinning and exchanging suspicious looks and smiles the whole time with hubby anyway! We all know that won't help to not blow your cover so you might as well say something...

My first ultrasound is 12/27. We are telling family on NYE. I’ll be about 8 weeks. The miscarriage rate drops significantly after a heartbeat is seen on ultrasound.
We would be okay announcing earlier, but my niece just announced she is pregnant so we are letting her have the attention for a bit 🤪

Honestly whether you wait or not doesn’t really jinx it or have a safe mark. We told people with my last pregnancy way early, because somehow people found out.  We typically would have waited until 12w, but I ended up miscarrying at 13w3d.  So really I see no safe zone.  We won’t be telling people until at least 20w, hopefully later with this pregnancy.  It’s totally up to what you feel comfortable with.
