Engagement cuff bracelets instead of rings

So my fiancé and I had discussed much before we got engaged, that we would do cuff bracelets instead of rings. Two reasons for it:

1. I wanted something we both could wear, since typically only women wear the engagement rings when the guy proposes, but I wanted both of us to wear something to signify our engagement. And a man wearing a ring would ve been mistaken for a wedding ring. So he proposed with the cuff he got me, and I bought him one as well.

2. Since we don’t plan to have a ceremonial wedding (most likely it’ll be a simple courthouse thing), I wanted to save the ring exchange for the wedding since that would be only “symbolic” thing for us to do.

People have been finding this whole cuff bracelets thing a bit strange and for most parts they don’t really get it, and I wanted to ask you all if it is that strange and out there? I kinda like that we are breaking traditions.
