RN said I wasn't eating enough protein
I explained my primarily vegan (sometimes pescatarian) diet to the RN at my first prenatal appt. and she seemed very concerned that I wasn't eating enough protein. I told her I eat a lot of nuts, legumes, beans, tofu, and high protein veggies, and she said those all turn into carbs. She said I need to see a nutritionist and that the baby needs more protein (she kept suggesting cheese). Any thoughts on this? I have an aunt who was a vegetarian for 15 years until she got pregnant and then her doctor told her she HAD to start eating meat for the baby. I'm so confused on what I should do. I want to do what is best for my baby. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
