Fostering children and ssi

I apologize if this sounds dumb. I receive ssi, and live in a 2 bedroom apartment. I’m on ssi unfortunately due to physical health issues caused from an eating disorder I had from a teenager to young adult. I do have one son who is 3. I want another child but my husband passed away. I know fostering would most likely be temporary but some foster homes aren’t so nice :( I would love to foster a child in a caring environment. I was wondering if I would be eligible to with being on ssi. I don’t really use the second bedroom, and have a convertible sofa in our living room I usually sleep on due to my back issues. I keep it clean. And it’s baby proofed. I always have plenty of food.

*i looked up a few things and I definitely could. I wouldn’t mind doing the classes. I love learning about things, especially child development, so that wouldn’t be a problem
