Is 37 weeks classed as full term?

I've been getting awful pains recently and I'm so worried when I go to the hospital they will induce me. Although Is 37 weeks still a bit to early for this?

It is TERM, not full term. Full term is 39 weeks. Meaning if you go into labor naturally at 37 weeks, they wont try to stop it because usually that means the babys lungs were developed enough to release labor triggering hormones. But they do not do intervention delivery eg c section or induction before 39 weeks, which is full term, because thats when for sure lung development should be complete....unless of course theres a medical reason to need to do it prior.

I’d ask your OB today and not the internet. I know I had my baby early due to cholestasis and my OB said there could be problems because she was not 39 weeks which is full term. I had her and we were in the hospital a week because she could not latch. I think the guidelines were recently updated (in the USA) I forget that there are people from all over the world on this app and their guidelines might be different.

37 weeks is full term and baby can survive out of the womb. I had my daughter at 37 weeks 4 days and she was 6lbs 14.5oz and perfect. I brought her home that afternoon after a quick birthing center birth.
