So I got a blood test done it was negative for hsv…. Meaning I’d never been exposed and don’t have antibodies… I got a swab on this little ingrown hair looking bump that didn’t hurt or anything and they said the swab was positive meaning I’d been exposed to it. I’d had this bump for like a week and the only reason i tested was because it just gave me anxiety with it being there.. My doctor even said it looked like a ingrown hair or razor bump. Now I haven’t had sex in over 6 weeks with my husband (any kind no touching, no oral, vaginal, anal or anything) because I’m 32 weeks pregnant and other reasons. Could this swab be wrong ?? They said it was like on the verge of positive or negative and I’m just so confused how could a blood antibody test be negative but a swab positive? I have only been with my husband for 3 1/2 years and neither of us have cheated, neither of us have ever tested positive for it or anything. He doesn’t get cold sores or any blisters anywhere nor do I. But now I have to take meds for 10 days till my reswab today comes back and possibly blood work again…. And then suppressive therapy at 36 weeks. Since finding out that news I’ve been so sad and just confused. I know it’s common and not the end of the world but are swabs possible for false positive??
