Potty training. Am I doing something wrong?
So yesterday at 1030am we started officially potty training our almost 3 year old. We've been wanting to start earlier than this, but with her being in daycare and constantly sick (and passing it to us) none of us have been healthy enough to focus on it until now.
So we started with wearing underwear but I realized half way through the day she would only tell us she peed after she peed. Totally normal obviously. No big deal. I ended up running out of underwear so she's went naked. Which seemed to have worked well. She gives visual cues before she pees and I believe she started making the connection. By bedtime she was doing big pees on the potty! It was great.
We put a diaper on for bedtime and she peed through the night. My problem starts with today. She's been up since 7am and she hasn't peed. It's now 10:15 and no pee. I've been watching her like a hawk and nothing. I've been trying to pump her full of liquid but she's one of those kids who won't drink if she's not thirsty. Won't eat if she's not hungry etc. Prior to potty training I never really paid attention to how long she can hold it for. I'm assuming that day 2 of potty training is too soon to expect her to hold it for so long? Is it normal to have one really good day and the next day nothing? We are trying the 3 day method and I'm aware it will take more than 3 days. I guess I'm just wondering if there is anything else I can do? Are my expectations too high? We have a Dino potty training chart she fills out after she goes potty (or tries to) and she also gets chocolate as a physical reward for trying.
