Tornadoes

I have a huge huge phobia of tornadoes. I just moved into an apartment a few months ago and they’re saying we have a high probability of tornadoes. I have a 3 year old, what do I do? My apt is 2 story. They said when I moved in that in case of bad storms to go in the center of the lower floor which I guess is the closet in the living room. How will that protect us? Half the apartment is brick, but you can hear the neighbors through the walls so I’m assuming it’s not very sturdy if it’s that thin. The storms aren’t supposed to start until 2pm but last throughout Saturday morning.

My mom said since we live in “a dipped part of land” that it wouldn’t even touch us. I wish there were mandatory areas like bunkers or something for people to go. 😰 I am panicking already. 😭 I have trauma from a tornado when I was my sons age.
