my mom is a twin, and i am her first born daughter! idk if that makes a difference i have one 2 year old son and i really want twins one day!! Is having twins hereditary?

It just depends.  I have a twin sister and my mom has a twin sister.  Neither of us had twins nor did my other sister (seven pregnancies total between the three of us and all singletons).

Fraternal twins (the result of multiple ovulation) often run in families. There’s a genetic component that does make you more likely to release more than one egg during ovulation more often than the average person. 
Your chances of multiple ovulation / multiple babies also increases if you’re on fertility meds like clomid or are undergoing IVF.
Identical twins happen at random, there’s no way to increase your odds of having identical multiples.

Fraternal twins run in my family it was suppose to be my generation to have them but instead it was my mom and hi I’m a fraternal twin :-)
