Baby has a rash?!

Hi my 5 week old has a rash on his face and now his ears. One ear has green puss on it. WhAt is it!? And what can I put on him to get it to go away?

Try putting breast milk on the rash. There are natural anti-inflammatory properties which will soothe the skin. Also clean your hands regularly, the oils from your body could be irritating. Consider changing your laundry detergent too if baby face is on your clothes. But see a doctor for the puss.

The ear stuff looks like it could be cradle cap. After washing, use a really soft washcloth and a little olive oil to try to gently get some of that stuff off. The face stuff could be a few things: part of the cradle cap, baby acne, heat rash, or eczema. For baby acne, just keep it clean. For eczema you could apply baby eczema lotion and make sure you talk to your doctor about it. If you think baby has been very warm, then just keep it clean and don’t put anything else on it. Feel baby’s belly and make sure he’s not too warm periodically. My daughter always ran hot and got heat rash on her face. She was never able to use fleece footies, even in the winter because she would just get too warm when she slept in them.
