HPV results…?

Kay • TTC baby #1 ❤️

I’m not able to contact my doctor’s office until tomorrow but can anyone tell me what this means? The genotype 16 and 18 was negative but hpv dna was positive? I have never had an std but fear my ex who cheated on me has given me something 😭😭 So now I am freaking out.

My Pap smear came up abnormal for LSIL so I go back in a month for a colposcopy. Then I checked my records online and saw this so now I’m really stressing… does this affect my fertility?

I had an abnormal pap last year showing lsil and all he had me do was go back in 6 months for a follow up Pap smear. My follow up pap came back normal. It’s pretty common. I wouldn’t stress at all

I was in my previous relationship for about 10 years 😕 So I’m sure that’s where it came from… Thanks for the info though, I feel a little better now.

Also, there’s no way you can pin point who you got it from. Hpv can stay dormant for years! Especially since there is no hpv test for men

About 80% of woman have one form of HPV and most of the time it goes unnoticed and the body repairs itself. HPV doesn’t always mean it is cancerous. The best thing for you to do is wait to speak to your Dr. They generally retest every 6 months to see if there is change here in Aus or more frequently if cancerous cells are detected. But like I said, wait for your Drs consult, it’s the best thing to do as she/he is the only one qualified to give clear results and what should be done. I was HPV positive as well so I speak purely from what I have had to go through.

Having some strain of HPV is common and to be expected. It doesn’t mean you have genital warts. The same is true for herpes (on the lips, not sure on the genital statistics 😅) or HSV-1 almost all of us have been exposed to the virus but only 15% or so actually get cold sores. I personally have never had a cold sore but I would guess I would test positive for HSV-1 antibodies (I played a lot of beer pong in college 🤷🏼‍♀️🤭) nothing to freak out about unless you are experiencing warts, blisters, etc.

When I was pregnant with my son that’s the only abnormal Pap smear I had. Doctor said it was probably due to pregnancy hormones and everything turned out fine. Try not to stress, a lot of women have gotten abnormal results.
