Covid antibody transfusion ?

I tested positive for Covid today (twice, cause work thought I was “lying” and made me come do one after I did one at homes but they’re dumb so anyways.) and I can’t go back to work til next Friday, contacted my OB and tomorrows appointment has been rescheduled for December 30th, plus little “post Covid” ultrasounds to check on little lady. She said something about an antibody transfusion?? Has anyone had this done while pregnant? What exactly is it? I’m terrified of needles so just want the process explained so I can prepare if I need one!

the science behind it is that it’s lab grown antibodies similar to the immune antibodies your own body makes. You just get a big dose of them through an IV, and those antibodies go to work fighting the virus off while your own immune system would normally still be working up to the fight. It’s up to you if you want to get it. You need to get it before your infection is considered severe for it to really work. Within 10 days of onset. When I had Covid at 20 weeks I told myself if by day 6 I didn’t feel better or felt worse I would go for it myself, but my experience was so mild and easy by day 6 I was just bored of being home lol. So I never got it myself but did a lot of research into it beforehand.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. I was 10 weeks and had to reschedule my first Drs apt. They told me I could go in and get the antibodies as long as it was within a certain time frame from when my symptoms started. I am not vaccinated. I ended up choosing not to do it for the simple fact that I wasn’t really that sick. I felt crappy and had around a 100 degree fever but it wasn’t too bad. I have definitely been sicker from the flu. Had I been feeling terrible I would have gotten it. They had told me it’s an IV and the process takes hours in the hospital. My dad had actually gotten COVID a while back and opted to do the antibodies. He said it helped him feel a lot better.

Kinda sounds like the vaccine ? I’m not sure but i’ve heard it’s a good idea to get it while pregnant so baby is born at least some what immune.

I am 15 weeks pregnant and got Covid. My doctor also recommended the monoclonal antibody transfusion and trust me it was a life saver! I had both of the vaccines back in June but I was down for quiet a few days last week. Once I got the transfusion(the day after) I felt like I was fully recovered. I also doubt it on getting it but I am glad I did. It’s pretty much antibodies helping your white blood cells to fight it off.
