Is 5 months to early to start solids/oatmeal cereal?

FTM here. I noticed my 5m old being interesting in the food I eat in front of him. He will follow with his eyes and try to grab my arm moving it towards him. Is it too early to start solids and oatmeal cereal?

If that’s the only sign then he’s not ready yet. He needs to meet all signs of readiness and be at least 6m old.

We started at 5 months because my daughter met all the signs of readiness. Our pediatrician also gave the go ahead at her 4 month appt but we waited until she was 5ish months cause we weren’t in a rush.

Try getting the starter foods for "Supported Sitters" and some rice or oatmeal cereal to add to his formula.
