Pregnancy tests while breastfeeding

Hi ladies!!!

I need some advice!!! 🙏🏻

Here’s some background info first: Im a first time mommy! I’m 8 months postpartum tomorrow!!! I’ve only had 1 period since I’ve had my LO, which was the week before thanksgiving(15th-22nd)! We’re still breastfeeding pretty regularly, only started solid at 6 months old, so two months ago. My husband and I use the pulling-out method of birth control. We had sex on the 28th and the 29th, which would have been my fertile time, and he didn’t pull out. I took a pregnancy test yesterday and it was negative :(

My question is, since I’m still breast feeding, would that affect a pregnancy test, or produce a false negative, especially so early on? I read that it shouldn’t, but some mom blogs and personal stories that I read said that it might take a few tests before I would get a positive?!?
