Mom Guilt: Breastmilk v. Formula

Stacy

Here is my dilemma. I have been exclusively pumping 3-4 times a day for almost 6 months. Naturally, I have been producing less milk than I have before and really have to be on top of pumping otherwise my son will not have food. Though, I have a huge stash I’ve accumulated in the freezer but because I’ve been pumping less, we have made a small dent in it. I am going back and forth about switching over to using partial formula or formula all the way so that I have less worries about not producing enough at right feeding times. What’s stopping me is that I really want to breastfeed. An alternative I’ve thought of is mixing half formula and half breastmilk so he still benefits from my breastmilk and I don’t need to worry about wasting/not having enough, but seems like extra work to be scooping AND heat up breastmilk into one bottle. It’d also be easier on me when we travel by not having to worry if I left enough milk or how/when I’ll pump, plus bringing all the necessary parts to pump… and then figuring out how/when to wash them all. It’s a process. If I do half and half, I will still need to pump either way. But, formula isn’t as great as breastmilk (no shade to anyone who is formula feeding). I feel guilty for almost wanting to give up because pumping seems to become a chore but I’m a SAHM so I should be able to do this because I don’t have a “work schedule” to abide by. I want to give him the best but I don’t know what it is right now.
