Are you getting your boy circumcised?

Question

It’s something I always felt uncomfortable about. His dad wants it and I agreed at first but now I see it as unnecessary cosmetic procedure. Plus I’ve heard it destroys tons of nerve endings for men 🤭I’ve heard bad things from people such as hygiene but if I’m teaching my son how to clean him self i don’t see it being an issue. What are your thoughts?

Your baby boy is perfect as he is. I would never do that to my son. 20wks with another boy and will not be doing it.

My husband is pro circumcision but I am against. I think it is mutilation. All the reasons to get circumcised can also be achieved with soap. Lucky we are having a girl!

I didn’t have my first two sons circumcised and don’t plan on doing it with the third one.  
I had originally planned on doing it with my firstborn but we couldn’t do it in the hospital and we had an appointment scheduled but the doctor that was going to do it asked me if I was doing it for religious reasons.  And I said no.  And he asked if it was something medically necessary for my son.  And at that time the answer was no.  So then he was like “why are you choosing to have him circumcised?“ and I really didn’t know… it was just something I thought I was supposed to do.  The doctor encouraged me to do some research and if I still felt like I wanted my son to have it done, I could reschedule.
But we decided against it and we’re happy with that decision.

My thoughts are the same as yours. We had a boy 3 years ago- uncircumcised. Terrible practice only common is the US and just for looks. Teach a boy how to be clean, and he will be ok!! 💙
If he’d like to be circumcised when older, that’s fine.. should be their choice!

Did it with my first and will do it with my 3rd. It healed fairly quickly and thankfully we had no issues, I left the decision to my husband plus my MIL works in urology so we spoke with her. She mention while ultimately its up to us there is the possibility of needing it done when they're older for medical reasons which she sees a lot. 
Do what you feel is best! You could always go back and have it done if you change your mind/feel it's too overwhelming at birth to make that decision.

There are lots of reasons to circumcise and it seems like just as many not to get it done. My husband is not circumcised and we live abroad right now, so it would be hard to get it done easily, so it’ll be a no for us.
I do know of two adult men who got infections and had to be circumcised as adults which doesn’t sound ideal. And I think it can lead to more STDs if there’s a lack of condom use. Urologists seem to recommend it because it can contribute to UTIs in the very young and very old. 
But I think that with proper hygiene, like you said, many of these issues can be avoided.

All of my brothers(6) were circumcised, both my boys were circumcised as well as their dad. The baby I’m currently pregnant with will be my third boy and he will be getting circumcised as well.

I don’t really think there is a wrong answer. It is whatever you feel is best.
I will say that it’s much, much more painful and difficult to get one when they are older. So I wouldn’t really leave that as a viable option to save the decision for later.
I had a boyfriend in high school decide to get one. He was upset that his parents didn’t get him circumcised and was extremely uncomfortable showering in the locker room after basketball. He decided to get circumcised on his own at 18. It took FOREVER to heal. He had to try really hard not to get aroused or the stitches would break open.

I only have girls, but if number 4 is a boy, we will circumcise him. I ultimately left that decision up to my husband. Another thing I like is the idea of the son “matching” the dad, so it’s not confusing for them kid.
