Elective induction?

Anyone else getting an elective induction at 39 weeks or has had one? I want to try to go without an epidural/pain medication but still think I’ll get the elective induction on the 11th to avoid surprise labor in a blizzard and my BD working an hour away from the house. We are also 60 miles from the hospital so having it planned has relived a lot of stress. I was 1cm dilated and 80%effaced at my 36 week check last week so my doctor thinks I’ll go in at 6am and have a baby by dinner hoping for more progress at tomorrow’s appointment. 🤞🏼

I’m having an elective induction on the 11th because this is my third pregnancy and I’m tired and done. Only a few more days and she will be here. I’ve had all my kids naturally and they have come the day before my scheduled induction date lol. So maybe she will come on the 10th by her self lol.

You'll go in at 6am, but don't plan on having baby at a specific time. Even with inductions you can still have labor that lasts over 24 hours. When they induced me I was 2cm and 70% went in at 8pm and didn't have my daughter until 5pm the next day.

I’m scheduled for an elective induction on Jan 4th at 12am (due date is Jan 7th). I opted for it because I really don’t want to go past my due date which I’ve been told is common in first pregnancies. I also started my leave early at 36 weeks due to my job being highly demanding and I would like to have as much time with my baby as possible. If they would have allowed me to be induced sooner I definitely would have. My doc isn’t on call tomorrow (when I hit 39 weeks) so I had to schedule it 1/4 when she is on call next. I’m just ready to meet my baby girl! I’m so impatient

Loved mine with my second at 39 weeks! They broke my water and I was only in labor for four hours. I defiantly opted for the epidural though! I have low pain tolerance and pitocin is a real b**ch! I pushed him out in 5 minutes, no problem. It really was a great experience over all! I’m honestly debating that myself if baby girl is still in there by 39 weeks because living in the Midwest, the weather is super unpredictable and I have two other littles to care for!

I had one at 39 weeks with my last pregnancy(4th for me) and am planning one again with this one (my fifth) it went beautifully. I too live an hour from the hospital and have REALLY fast labors and me and my doc don’t want me having a baby at home! When I have them at 39 weeks my babies are still 8.5 pounds! I had my first two babies with no epidurals or medication, but have had an epidural the last two and am planning on one for this one as well. 
My first two I went into labor in my own, the third I was induced a day overdue and it was an awful delivery. He was almost 9 pounds and in distress, so I was induced at 39 with my next and it went sooo much better. But I do prefer an epidural when induced. Just because it makes my contractions much more intense than natural labor.

I had one with my second baby and loved it and planned on doing it this time, but they aren’t allowing them bc of nursing shortages with Covid 😫😫😫

I’m planning to ask for one on the 11th at 39 weeks. I just had an ultrasound at 37 weeks today and he is weighing 8 pounds. Sounds cooked enough to me lol I had a really short labor with my first and don’t want to deliver on the side of the road so hoping for induction over spontaneous with this one 🤞🏻

I'm having one on the 11th also, if he waits that long, because my mom will be flying into town Friday to watch my daughter while we go in. It's possible to go without an epidural, but don't focus on it too much, if you need one, you need it, it's no big deal. Everyone told me with my daughter I'd want it. It wasn't until I hit transitional labor that I ever had any actual pain, but I managed to go without it even being exhausted from being awake about 21 hours. 
I was told I'd "need/want" it because the pitocin, but the pitocin didn't bother me at all. Everyone is different, every labor is different. Just be honest with yourself and don't go through unnecessary pain, I almost asked them for narcotics myself right before pushing because I felt like ibwas on fire and couldn't breathe in that transitional stage, but I didnt have the words at that point. Even now, with our son, I hope to do the same thing, but I'm worried I won't be able to handle it. Either way, hope you have a safe, happy, healthy delivery!

I’m having one January 10th. I also want to be able to plan in case of surprise winter weather. I had an elective induction with my first baby 2 years ago and it went very smoothly for us.

I had an elective induction with my first @ 39 weeks & I went in on 12/18 and started the process around 8am & didn’t deliver until 12/19 around 8:15am. I wanted to go w out an epidural but ended up getting one so I could rest before I had to push.
