Weaning pacifier

For those who have weaned the paci, how did you do it and would you recommend your method? We only use it for sleep and my daughter is very good about respecting that but she absolutely loves the paci and can’t wait to go to bed because she knows she’ll get it. I see her often waking up in the middle of the night and using it to fall back asleep. It’s going to break my heart to take away something she loves so much so I want to do it in the gentlest way I can.
