What would you do if you had to evacuate due to weather issues but had a pet?

Let’s say you needed to go to a shelter because you didn’t have any friends/relatives houses you could drive to. What would you do with your pet? 
Purely hypothetical situation. Brought about by the current fires in Colorado. I saw mentions of shelters for people, shelters specifically for people with COVID, but nothing about pets. What do people do in those situations?

I'd sleep in my car with my pet. I'm not leaving them.

I think alot of shelters would make an exception in case of emergency. I worked for hotel and we amended our policy temporarily to be pet friendly due to emergency in other cities.

I live in Colorado and this whole state is fairly pet friendly. I can’t even think of the last time the hotel I stayed in wasn’t pet friendly (I traveled a lot for work).
I’m bringing my animals with me. If the shelter I had to evacuate to gives me issues about it, I’ll cross that bridge when we get there, but there’s no way in hell I’m abandoning my family. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. One of my cats is 14 years old - one year older than my relationship with my husband. His little 8lbs old ass has always been there to comfort me, he’s family and I will stow him away in my suitcase before someone tells me I can’t keep him with me during an evacuation.

I have a travel crate so I’d probably bring that. If it was because of a fire I for sure wouldn’t leave my dog behind to burn

Bring my pets with me. No way I’m leaving them behind there sort of my family.

I’d find a pet friendly hotel and bring my dog, as well as my saltwater fish in a storage container with an air pump and internal filter. I couldn’t let the animals that rely on my care perish due to any inconvenience out of our control.

When we had to evacuate, we took our pet with us and drove until we got somewhere we could all stay. Ended up being about 8 hours away.

I honestly don’t know. Luckily I have car so I would drive far far away and find a hotel that’s pet friendly but not everyone has that option

I live on the coast where hurricanes sometimes hit and shelters allow pets in emergencies. If they for some reason do not, then I would just drive somewhere safe with my pet.

Depending on the type of pet usually a fair grounds will be set up for animals (especially farm stock like horses).
