Two very different births
I just wanted to share both of my birth stories as they both went very differently. I just wanted to show soon to be FTM and STM that you can’t go off of other peoples stories because everyone’s is truly different. I kept assuming my second would be like my first but it wasn’t even close! I’ll keep is short as I can but thanks in advance for reading ❤️ pics of my cuties at the end!
I was due April 2nd, 2019 with my daughter and she would not budge, I did not have a single contraction with her and she stayed super high up my entire pregnancy. I did not dilate enough to get a sweep or anything so we just held out. So, at my appointment the day before I was 41 weeks my doctor scheduled my induction for that night! I went in at 7 and was given oral cytotec and jumped from a 1.5 to a 4 overnight from that. They hooked me up for pitocin the next morning and I only felt mild cramps. They had me get the epidural before they broke my water since I knew I would want it, and then they broke my water and nothing really happened I sat at a 4 for most of the day. Then I got up to a 7 and from there I jumped to a 10 in about 10 minutes. I know that because the epidural could not keep up on my left side and I was in tears since the contractions were one on top of the other. They had the doctor come in and teach me to push and she left and came back about 2.5 hours later I was still pushing. After a total of 4 hours pushing and 28.5 hours from start of induction my daughter came at 41 weeks April 9 2019 at 8lbs 6oz and 20 1/4 inches long. I did lose a lot of blood and almost passed out when the nurse helped me get up to use the bathroom. And I tore mildly in 3 places and had to get some stitches.
I was due June 17th, 2021 with my son. My doctor was moving to the other side of the state the 23rd so we hoped I wouldn’t go as late as I did with my daughter and I didn’t. I was at a 2 and was able to get a sweep but it did nothing for me. Then June 14th I woke up from a nap with super mild contractions that I thought were just BH but they were consistently coming every 7 minutes and my son wouldn’t move for me no matter what I did so we went in around 5pm for them to monitor him and they told me that he was doing great and that I did have consistent contractions and I probably couldn’t feel him since he was engaged. So they sent me home since I was at a 4 and not feeling the contractions too bad. I got home at 7 and prepared my mom to come to stay with our daughter. I tried to get some sleep but was nervous that would stop the contractions so I stayed up. They were coming every 1-5 minutes since getting back from the hospital. By 11 they were bad enough we started getting things to the car and got to the hospital a little after 12. They checked me in and I was at a 6. They moved forward and got the epidural going. Before they could I was having contractions every 1-3 minutes. My husband was wonderful rocking with me while I hummed the pain away. My first experience was wonderful getting the epidural my second was awful. I swear it felt like he was chiseling it into my back with a hammer I was sobbing with the pain of that and the contractions. After he finished I was still sobbing the doctor checked and I was up to a 7 and they told me I was probably in transition which is why it hurt so bad. They turned me to my side to help the epidural and I felt so much pressure they checked and I was at a 10 not even 5 minutes after I was at a 7. They called in the doctor and I started pushing without the epidural working and I have to say I’m so glad it didn’t. I always wanted to try going natural but I didn’t think I could and I was forced to and it was wonderful. After 4 contractions my son was out and in my arms. I wasn’t as tired as after my daughter and it was so comfortable. So he came 246am on June 15th 7lbs 12oz and 20 inches at 39 weeks 5 days. I had no tearing and was up moving not to long after!
So one induction one spontaneous. One epidural one with one but didn’t work. One late one early. One positive epidural and one negative experience. One hours to push and one minutes to push. One tearing and blood loss the other none. You just never know how it’s going to go ❤️
Here is my daughter Ava Grey at 2.5
