Matron of Honor, Bach party?

I’m the matron of honor for my best friend’s wedding. We’ve been best friends since junior high, something like 14 years. She’s getting married 12 weeks after my due date (wedding date was set before I got pregnant) so I’m looking for advice on what to do about a bachelorette party. I’m not going to want to leave my 12 week old overnight even though he’d be staying with my husband, but I want her to have the best bachelorette party and I know she’d be there for me if it was reversed. Ideas?? All I can think of now is to have my husband travel with our kids and stay close by and me spend the night with my family rather than in whatever house I book for the crew, but I don’t know how offensive that is. Help?

If she's been your best friend this long she will understand you don't want to be away overnight 🥰 originally we planned a river float/day time trip for my Bachelorette party... but then my MOH was like you're getting married in October, it'll be too cold 🤣 so instead we spent the night in a hotel (think girls movie night, but with phallic decorations). The next day we went to a Broadway show and saw Chicago. Was the best time ever :) not sure what your friend is like, but Bachelorettes don't have to be crazy or an all night thing 🥰

Personally I think it would be hard to leave at 12 weeks. But your baby will be 3 months old and it’s good to have your adult time too. I am in a similar situation to you, and I would feel very guilty and retreat it if I didn’t stay over for my best friends wedding, I am also the matron of honor.

Depending on where you live can you do something close to home that way you can go home at the end of the day? Personally I am not really into the destination bachelorette party thing. For my bachelorette my best friend rented a limo and we went to several different wineries throughout the day and had dinner at the last winery then all crashed at her house for the night and I had a great time. I think as long as you plan something that she will enjoy with the people that she wants there then that is perfect.

I feel like this is a total up to you comfort thing. I’d say just keep in mind that most moms, if you are in the USA, only get about 3 months/12 weeks of maternity leave. I know overnight is different than just being gone during the day, but you can build up a milk supply if you’re breast feeding for your husband to utilize. Or depending on how close this event is to where you live, only do the day activities and go home at night 🤷🏼‍♀️
