When people say this would you believe they’re

If someone were to have said this would you believe they’re the cause of the problem or the victim of it? I’ve heard a few things about people being gaslit into believing that an incident was their fault when it wasn’t and then there’s people who victimize themself.

It depends on the context entirely.

I think the point of the statement is to say that yes, I messed up and caused harm, but did I do it just for fun or because I have trauma of my own and responded out of that. 
If anyone said this in conversation with me, I’d obviously have more context into the situation and would probably know if they’re victimizing themselves or not. But regardless, our own traumas don’t excuse our behavior.

Calling yourself monster isn't the way to go it actually makes it worse yes people make mistakes or have things happen. Victimizing them self is also not the way to go but some people do it to do bad which isn't right either. We need more help that's available out there for everyone to help

Depends on your locus of control. You can make mistakes and own them, or you can just feel like bad things happen to you with no control. I feel like no matter what calling yourself a monster isn’t healthy, but I get what the post is trying to say
