Grunting in bassinet only

Melissa • Three kids. 🧒🏼👧🏼👶🏻

Hello all, my newborn is 2.5 weeks old and the last few nights he’s had a change vocally. When I lay him down for the night he has just constantly grunted, arches his back on and off, and moaned. He rarely does it while being held and sleeping, it just seems like when I lay him down it’s happening. He has regular bowel movements throughout the day, as he’s breast fed. Only little change the last couple days is a slight stuffy nose. Anyone have any insight as to what could be the issue?

I’ve looked it up and some sights say it could be due to learning how to have bowel movements but who knows. I just can’t sleep with him next to me constantly grunting and moaning ALL night. Plus, i don’t see how he’s even getting rest when he’s constantly so vocal.

TIA!

When my 3 week old does it he has the reflux and then then he vomits some milk after. His breast fed. So I keepHim upright for a few min before laying him down

Sometimes the arching of the back and grunting can be a sign of reflux. If possible keep them upright for a while after feeding and put a little towel under one side of the bassinet to elevate it slightly.

My son used to do that and he ended up having colic/reflux

Is it also during the day or only during sleep?
