Interesting Dr visit today!
So had a 13 week appointment and needed blood drawn, for me not a big deal, I don't mind needles and have never had issues watching them fill those little tubes up.....until today.
They had a new girl and asked if I cared if she drew the blood, which I never do because how else are they gonna learn?? So anyway the seasoned phlebotomist is getting the paper work done while this new girl tries to find a vein in my left arm. No luck. So she went for the right arm, no problem. She's getting the tubes filled and the supervisor says she's gonna run and get a copy of the paperwork off the front desk real quick. No problem I'm fine the new girls fine so she goes.
Within the minute she left the office the newbie asked if I was okay. I told her yea, just felt like I was gonna get sick but I'd be fine. I close my eyes because this nausea is getting bad. She asks me again if I was sure I was okay and I told her I was gonna puke. She asks if I need the trash can and I can feel the darkness coming on and said, Oh no, I'm just gonna go out.
This poor girl starts to panic, no don't do that were almost done! I just told her if it happened to finish, I'd be good. Well the seasoned lady comes in and I must have looked really bad because she runs out yelling that she needed a nurse. This poor girl thinks she's messed up and starts to panic more. By this time she just finished with the last tube. Very quickly moves everything gets the wrap on the incision.
I'm just there with my head down and ask if I can have something to drink because I still felt like I was gonna throw up. She's yelling at me to stay with her and to talk to her and I'm just laughing telling her it's okay I'll be fine. Then three woman come running into this small room, the phlebotomist and two nurses. All I hear is omg she looks really bad get me some cookies or crackers and an ice pack STAT.
They ran off to look for this stuff and left this poor girl alone with me again. She's hard core freaking out, I'm just resting my head on their arm chair and I look at her and go, "first time for you too?" I'm still in a light hearted mood and ended up having to stay in there an extra 30 minutes until they were sure my color was back and that I wasn't going to pass out going to my car.
I had to come to the appointment alone but my mom asked to drive up with me so she was waiting in my car and I got in the car and started to laugh. I told her what happened and even she felt bad for that girl but I found the humor in it.
I'm fine baby is fine so it's all good.
